Mastering the Art of Double-Dipping – Using Content in Multiple Channels
By Colin Clark
I was in a meeting with a client and I kind of stepped back for a minute and listened to the advice I was giving and the vast majority of it involved taking one source of content and increasing its effectiveness by syndicating it in multiple channels.
I call this double-dipping.
Here are a bunch of examples that I brainstormed. Feel free to add your own ideas in the comments below.
- Linking your Facebook fan page and company Twitter account.
- Using blog posts as Facebook notes.
- Using blog content for monthly eNewsletters.
- Using website content for print.
- Using print content to drive website traffic.
- Placing Twitter, Facebook, or other feeds on your website.
- Generating ideas in meetings with clients and using those ideas for blog content (basically what I’m doing right now).
- Using Facebook, Flickr, etc. as outlets for promotional pictures of your products, services, etc.
- Using youtube, vimeo, etc to increase exposure for promo or website videos.
- Using blogs you read to create content for twitter or facebook posts (via friendfeed).
- Using interesting content you find on delicious or digg to create blog posts – best resources for … type stuff.
- Using online conversations to generate blog posts.
- Reusing comments you’ve left on other people’s blogs as posts for your website.
Okay there’s 13 great tips. Feel free to add your own tips in the comments area.
