Breaking Down Analytics to Maximize Website Traffic
By Colin Clark
As you’re building your tribe, it’s often helpful to look at where your website traffic is coming from and maximizing your best traffic sources.
Here’s an example…
I look at the traffic I’m getting from Facebook and I notice that on some days I get lots of traffic from this source, but on other days I get very little traffic from this source. I can then look at what I was doing on the high traffic and try to replicate that behavior to get similar results.
So what are some behaviors that might affect traffic volume?
- Some days you might simply have a high level activity on a particular social network. Lots of public conversations=lots of people seeing your name and potentially clicking through to your website.
- Perhaps you post links to pages or blog posts on your site on a given day. The language you use to accompany these links can also have an effect.
- In the case of search engine traffic, blogging about current topics can be an effective strategy. If topics are current, there’s a good chance that people will be searching for this information.
