1. Font Size – I went to the optometrist recently.  My vision is currently 20/20, yet some people have 11pt font as the default on their website and I struggle to read it, so I typically choose not to.
  2. Short paragraphs – If I write a really long sentence, I will typically create a new paragraph for the next one.  This isn’t English class.  The goal is to make it easy for people to read your posts.
  3. Pictures – It’s unnecessary to use pictures in every single post you write, but at least throw one in every 3rd or 4th post.  It really makes a big difference for the look and feel of your blog.
  4. Bullet points – Using bullet points from time to time breaks up the page into sensible chunks that are easier to read.  Use where appropriate.
  5. Avoid analogies –  This one is strictly personal preference, but I really find most posts that use analogies to be irrelevant.  Here’s a hypothetical example of the type of analogy post that makes me instantly know that you’re probably not saying anything interesting or important…

I saw a dog eating a dead squirrel yesterday and it reminded me of how ABC Widget Co. really outclasses their competition and blah blah blah…
